Sth Channel Drift & Portsea Hole – Sunday 8th March 2020

Divers: Karl, Drew, Lachlan, Sam & Mark

Continuing on our endeavour to complete our dives in strong south easterlies winds, our fist dive of the day is a deep drift dive through the south channel off Capel Sound. We are dropped in to 20 metres of water, the first thing I see as descend is two parallel lines in the sand, on closer inspection I can see that is the shape of a small timber barge. Although just a very mild current, being a team of 5 divers, even a 8 metre swim into the current will cause team separation, so, my curiosity remains uncured. Our second dive, Portsea Hole, didn’t have the same depth requirement, so we spent most of the dive swimming along the reef, thus making the dive more enjoyable with the abundance of aquatic life. Over all we managed to turn a potentially diveless weekend into some thing quite enjoyable.
