Rye Pier – Saturday 18th January 2014

Visibility: 15m+                  Water Temperature: 22°
Divers: Spencer, Melissa, Mick, Dan, Ohm, Paul, Mark, Vikki

After the last week of 40° + days it was a welcome relief to go down to Rye Pier and dive in 22° water, on a day with an expected top temperature of 22°. Again the sun was shining and the water conditions were excellent. Spencer and Mick came along with their twin tanks to familiarise themselves even more with their recent setups, Mark,  Ohm, Melissa and Dan spent their time checking out the fantastic marine life that is quite unique to this pier. Paul (the Seahorse whisperer)and I set out to find as many Bigbelly Seahorses as we could……….and we were most successful, finding a grand total of 6. And to top it off we also found a Southern Blue-ringed Octopus, that we observed (from a distance) for quite a while, watching as its body changed from brown to majestic brown with bright blue rings and back again. Another dive with the ‘WOW’ factor. After such a miserable winter season it is great that we are having fantastic dives week after week during summer. Thanks Barb 🙂
If you haven’t been joining us, do yourself a big favour and come along because we would love to see you.
