The sun was shining, and although the wind had picked up a little bit there was only a slight surface chop, conditions could not have been better. With the tide Ebbing we were dropped to the south of the Eye, made our way down the rocks to the sandy patches below. Popes Eye is a Marine Sanctuary and this means no taking anything for divers but also no fishing. I’m sure the fish know this as they seem to congregate here in large numbers, we had a great time feeding the fish and once they became comfortable with us they would literally eat right out of our hands. Sometimes over looked as a quality dive site, mainly due to fact that it is such a popular training site, however, Popes Eye is a favourite dive site for many an experienced diver.
