H C Piggot – Sunday 30th December 2012

Divers:  Danny, Mick, Puspendu, Youri, Dazza, Martin & Mark

For a Hopper Barge the Piggot is quite small, only 500 tons. Built in 1912 she was scuttled in 1935 after a substantial career of carrying spoil to grounds the south of Williamstown.  The visibility was up to its normal standard of late, with azimuth blue water, which by the way is at 18 degrees at the moment, relatively flat seas the conditions could not have been better. There also seems to be a large number of crays on the graveyard wrecks lately, I wonder if the cray fisherman have moved to other parts for while.  At least the 6.00am boat departures are easier to cope with in the summer months.
