with the closure of Rye Pier for a full renovation, all dive training now has to be at either at Blairgowrie or Flinders Piers. We chose to go to Blairgowrie given the wind forecast. I think just about every other dive shop running an Open Water course this weekend thought the same :). Blairgowrie is a shorter walk than most other jetties, however it does have stairs to negotiate. Flinders of course was out of the question with the strong south easterlies, which weren’t forecasted to hit Blairgowrie until mid afternoon, which they did. Fortunately we were just getting out as the winds picked up. The water temperature was 20 degrees and the viz was about 6-8 metres. The long range forecast for this coming Saturday is looking pretty good, so we’re all pumped for our boat dives!!
