Batman – Saturday 2nd June 2018

Divers:  Tim, Roger, Andrew, Warren & Mark

Another stunning day on the water today, as we departed to dive the site of the SHB Batman. Built in 1883, the Batman and her sister ship Fawkner were both used as auxiliary vessels for the Victorian Navy. Also serving as a non commissioned Mine Sweeper, the Batman had a long career, not being scuttled until 1935.
With the excellent dive conditions over the past couple of weeks the excitement was building for a great dive, & I don’t think anyone was disappointed. We had 10meter viz and no current, this allowed us to cover the entire length of the vessel, ending our dive at the bow we find the gun mount (one if the features that allowed us to positively id the ship), it always makes the dive just that little bit more enjoyable when you are able to locate items that distinguish the site from others.
