Aquability Club Dive: Rye Pier /Eivion Wreck – 2nd May 2021

Divers: Tim, John, Sebastien & Tim K

Club dives provide a great opportunity for newly certified divers to gain experience, or for more experienced divers to hone their skills and explore new dive sites.
We had near perfect conditions with just a light northerly breeze and great viz under water. As always at Rye, there was an abundance of fish and marine life with the highlights being a sea horse and giant cuttlefish; this resulted in some great shots being taken by the  photographers in the group. A dive at Rye also provides the opportunity to see an historic ship wreck in the Eivion; which sank in 1918 when a storm came in whilst it was  unloading its cargo of lime and other materials. It is located around 50 metres east of the pier and can be accessed with an easy surface swim. The combination of unique marine life and an historic ship wreck made for a great dive that was enjoyed by all.
