Flinders Pier – Sunday 1st July 2012

Strong Northerly’s put an end to diving at Mornington Pier, so we headed off to Flinders which is always the sure bet in these conditions. Just like every other shore diver in Melbourne we kitted up & prepared for the walk down the pier, unlike the others though we were carrying 3 tanks each. After 60 minutes and several ascents we had finished our required skills and it was time to head back to the cars get changed & get a coffee!! Even in drysuits 1 hour spent in a small area not moving any further than 2-3 metres, the cold starts to creep in. Sitting in the cafe, drinking coffee & analysing our performance under the pier certainly was the highlight of what otherwise was a good dive but in trying conditions of 11 degree water.
