Unfortunately our planned boat dives were canceled today. So we made the most of it & dived a little LimeTrader just off Rye Pier – Eivion. Dive conditions were perfect, with good viz, even with the strong easterlies, we were in the lee and mot even a white cap to be seen.
In 1921 after travelling to Rye from Melbourne and whilst tied up to the pier, Eivion encountered strong winds. She was badly smashed about, her cargo spilling out of the ship & by morning she was a tangled mess. Later dynamited and cleared from the pier, she now lies apprx. 150m to the east of Rye Pier.
