Rye Pier – Saturday 3rd June 2017

Divers: Tim, Chris & Mark

With the start of winter comes the start of the very best dive conditions Melbourne has to offer, today we (and half of Melbourne’s divers) dived at Rye Pier. Oily flat seas and 15 metre plus viz had all the divers excited about getting in to the water, my guys didn’t even notice the 12 degree water temperature until I told them, much later on :). The fantastic conditions really had the photographers coming out of the wood work to make the most of the great conditions. We spent most of our time under the jetty just watching the aquatic life swim by, with keen eyes for the wild life we were able to find nudibranchs, sea horses and some juvenile sting rays amongst plenty of other fish life. By the time we had finished our diving, the sun was shining and we quickly changed in the car park and made our way to the Rye Hotel for a very tasty and warming counter lunch. Then talk soon turned to next weeks dives, and we are all really looking forward to the opportunity diving some really great sites and making the most of the great dive conditions.
