Canberra & J4 Sub double dive – Saturday 7th July 2012

Canberra & J4 Sub double dive – Saturday 7th July 2012

Divers: Scott, Barb, Ian, Derick, Trevor, Jason, Vikki & Mark

Although the water temperature hasn’t started to rise yet, it just feels warmer when you travel out to the site in sunshine. The water seems to have about 6-8 metres of dirty brown (maybe fresh water from the rain) horrible viz at the surface but once you get through that it cleared up quite a bit. There was also some surface current, but that too dropped off once you descended below about 12-14 metres. Both dives were good fun, practiced running out our lines on the first dive which lead us to a penetration on the J4 sub on the second dive. It’s amazing how a little bit of stress loading takes your mind off the water temperature, swimming down through the engine hatch and then aft towards the crew quarters allowed us an area to or selves as the other divers had all stayed towards the bow. We are going back again this coming Saturday for another go at it & hopefully we’ll get all the through the entire sub this time!!
