Saturday 16th October - Rye Pier
Divers: Deon, Mike, Geoff, Victoria, Mark, Jared and Sam
Temp: 14'C Vis: 5-6m
Waking up this morning not many people would expect to be getting up and going diving. However, once we made it through the wind and rain down to sunny Rye our attitude soon changed. While the wind was still up we were greeted by sun and were keen to get into the water to warm up with the cold wind. The walk down the pier helped warm us up and as we hoped in we were pleasantly surprised by the warmth and the schooling fish. Throughout the dive we were cut off by schooling Australian Salmon that zipped in and out around the pylons. When we weren't being distracted by the schools of fish we spotted the odd sea horse nestled among the weeds, we were surprised to find a few smaller pregnant ones meaning that more sea horses are on the way for summer. And also for the lovers of all things small and colourful (photographers), two very tiny nudibranchs were spotted (see the pictures; sorry they are out of focus, too small). All in all the dive was full of a variety of fish and was a nice surprise on a dreary day.
