We braved the showers and were rewarded with calm sea conditions and a fantastic array of marine life. There wasn't a dull moment! Upon decent we were almost immediately welcomed by, not 1, but 2 large Wobbegong. As we swam on we had to make our way through large schools of Whiting. I've never seen so many under Rye Pier! Just a little way out from the end of the Pier we spotted a large sleepy octopus tucked up on an old tyre. It was quite happy for the photographers amongst us to take as many photos as we liked.... they were certainly not 'photo shy'!! The resident large Stingray was gliding around the end of the pier, as were the young stingrays that were about the size of a dinner plate. As if that wasn't enough, on our way back, we saw a couple of large Cuttlefish. As usual there were the Globe Fish, Wrasse, Goatfish, Blennys, crabs, sea spiders...i could go on and on....
This was the last shore dive for the Winter Diving Program. The final dive for the Winter Diving Program will be a boat dive on Saturday 27th November. On Saturday 4th December we will be commencing the Summer Diving Program & would love to see some new faces come along and join us.
