The fine weather continued into Sunday and our first dive was Portsea Hole, we were on the end of an Ebb tide so the viz was never going to be great, but our 12 divers had been broken down into 3 smaller groups which made our buddy contact easy. As is always the case at Portsea Hole the best action was at about 14 - 20 metres, with only sand below that, so we don't spend much time at depth. With our new found confidence at deep diving the excitement starts to grow about our next dive on the Sub.
With the water so flat at the Heads we could have water skied out, we are able to start to kit up comfortably before the boat even arrives at the site. Once again the shot line is dropped at the stern of the wreck, and as we swim towards the bow we pass over the hatches, even though there is no swell we still seem to have a lot of surge inside the sub - more than I thought there would be. Checking out the Conning Tower, torpedo tubes etc our time is all too soon over & we have to start our ascent. Fortunately we have finished our days diving early enough to allow us the pleasure of a counter meal & a few quiet drinks before heading home & having what I thought was a well deserved slept on the couch - having spoken to a few of them, it appears I was not the only one!!!
