We left Queenscliff heading for our dive site, The Grotto. When we arrived the water was green, there was a 20knot SW coming straight through the heads. It didn't take long to make the decision that we would be heading across to Portsea Hole. Arriving just in time for slack we geared up quickly briefed the students again and jumped in. Once we got settled onto the bottom we headed west towards into the current as it was just starting to change. We spotted on the dive ruddy gurnard, sweep, 6 spined leatherjackets, large long snouted boarfish and several blue devils. Once the current got too strong we began our drift back with the flood in an easterly direction. On the way we past one of the mooring lines for the marine park boundaries. It has been overgrown with mussels now almost right to the top. This has provided an new home for blennies, small juvenile and pygmy leatherjackets.
