Castle rock
Divers Adrian , Jack viz 15m TEMP 15
Once again the fantastic weather continued Saturday as we headed out to castle rock outside the heads. We dropped down over the bombie and were greeted by a large school of sweep circling above the bombie. We moved over the side and along the eastern side and worked along the wall, on the bottom of the wall a long flat ledge runs all the way. In the ledge several large blue devils hung, bulleyes were in large schools also, one juvenile crayfish and a couple of cuttlefish were also hangin out using the ledge as shelter. We moved further around to the western side were another large wall is located. The western wall is covered in more zoanthoids, sponges and ascidians making it a lot prettier. On the wall we saw long snouted boarfish, old wives, blue devils, horseshoe leatherjackets, southern hula's and plenty of bullseyes. We finished the dive looking around the top of the bombie before heading back up to the shot to the surface.
Popes Eye
Divers Adrian , Jack
After a nice surface interval drinking hot chocolate and looking at boats in the mariner we boarded our next boat headed for Popes eye. We entered the water on the southern side and headed for the kelp before descending to the bottom. As with any dive at popes eye you could write a list of fish as long as the page however I will keep the list to the highlights. We saw schools of long finned pike, sweep, southern hula's, big horseshoe leatherjacket's, cuttlefish, schools of baitfish near the surface, a seal and the list is endless. Being a Saturday we only had a few people on the boat with us so we also felt like we had the place to our selves. I reckon the fish a lot more relaxed when there is only a couple of divers floating around with them and they come in closer.
