Whenever you get to a dive site at 07:30 in the morning it is always good to have other people there so you know you're not the only crazy ones. This was the case Sunday morning as we arrived at popes eye. With the tide running out we headed to the southern corner descended through the kelp and out into the current. After being pushed quickly around to the lee we settled on the bottom to do our skills. After completing our skills we headed north towards the anchor. We passed large schools of long finned pike, many sweep, leatherjackets and everyone's favourite the ferocious scalyfin. As we got to the anchor there 4 cowfish hanging of it, whilst a couple of large globefish were also using it as cover. Moving around further we began to hit the ebb current running down the northern side. We propped here as lately there have been many very large sea pike or snook in the area. There were still there and I counted at least 15 some up to a meter long. As we headed back to the surface we encountered very large schools of baitfish, probably what the snook were planning on having for breakfast.
