Water Temp: 11 C
Visibility: 5-7 m
Depth: up to 10m
Wind: Dead flat, foggy
Saturday morning we decided to go to Mornnigton as the conditions were good everywhere and we hadn't been there for agaes. When we arrived surfaced conditions were perfect not a ripple and foggy at the end of the pier. Speaking of which the Pier
and surrounding arers are going through some chnages at the minute as the Pier's middle section is being rebuilt. We entered the water from the corne of the carpark, vis looked pretty good you could see the botttom clearly. After checking everyone had enough weight we decsended down and swam north towards the end of pier as we nneded to
get some deeper water. Moving down the pier yo can see there has been a lot f changes
along the pier in many things. New pylons had replaced the older one, bits of rubbish and contruction material lay aorund the bottom. Fish life has certaily been hugely affected while construction is going along. I can just imagine the sites and sounds that must be vibrating through the water from driving in pylons, saws, welding etc. Towards the end of the pier whewre the work is not being normal things were a little bit back to normal. large schools og Hula's, Zebrafish, goatfish, a few smalll pinkie snapper and the always presnt gobefish( puffer) cruising around slowly. In general the sute was quite sparce as far as fish life goes. This could be a combination of the cold water, the stack
of North pacifics in the area or the contrsuction goin on. Either way I am looking forward to getting back there again when all is back to normal and we can again dive one of our better shore diving spots.
