Although the weather conditions were perfect, the visibility was less so. A giant stride (or a scramble down the rock wall) into the water and a short swim on the surface bought us to the pier where we descended. There have been extensive works going on to the middle section of Mornington Pier, with new pylons being installed. This has greatly affected the underwater geography. The water was quite murky so it was important for us to maintain good buddy contact. The old end part of the pier hasn't been disturbed by the works so we were still able to dive amongst the abundant marine life that lives there. We saw plenty of Wrasse, Goat Fish, Globe Fish, large schools of Old Wives, Yellowtail, Toadfish, a Seahorse, a Banjo Shark and loads of crabs. The beauty of Mornington Pier is that it is one of the few shore dives that you can get a depth of 9m.
