Sunday 03/07
Brenton and I went to Flinders pier as conditions in port Phillip bay were very ordinary.
We leapt off the pier at 11.30 am into waters that were 11 degrees. But it was all worth it once we put our heads under the surface. WOW, it was so clear, the vis was 15 to 20m.
There was plenty of marine life under and around the pier. We encountered a large ray, schools of whiting, flathead, (black and white striped fish) I think you called them zebrafish., red mullet, and a few other specie that I'm not sure on the names. We were spoilt with PLENTY of weedy sea dragons and we even came across the resident octopus. This would have been the biggest octopus I have ever seen.
We also managed to have a good look around the wreck at the end of the pier and found the old engine block that was full of shrimp.
We were under the water for over an hour and didn't want to leave.
It was great to get back in, look forward to going out again soon with you.
Cheers
Chris
