We were booked to do a double dive on the Canberra, the swell was about 1 \'bd metres which in my mind, means the surge was always going to be an issue. The skippers dive brief told us that recent conditions have been quite good on the wreck, there were a few causalities to the swell although the majority of divers dived. Our tasks were to run a wreck line on the outside of the wreck, this was done with a struggle but we managed to complete the task. We did cut our bottom time short by a few minutes and on surfacing I discussed with the boys that I'm not happy to do the second dive in these conditions, because it requires us to penetrate the wreck, which I feel will be dangerous in these conditions and everyone agrees. My job now is to convince the skipper to tell the other dozen divers on the boat that we want to change sites!! As it turns out most are more than happy to change as their dive was just as bad as ours. My suggestion is the J4.
