Blairgowrie Jetty – Sunday 6th January 2013

Divers:  Trevor, Jan, Deon, Emily, Jillian, Rob & Mark

We had 2 dive to do & I had promised to find Emily a Seahorse so I was under pressure (pardon the pun!!) to come up with the goods. We had only swum half way down the pier when I came across 2 giant stingrays, each about 2 metres wide. The group was very excited & impressed with fact that such a nice easy to do dive site could produced such a variety of aquatic life. The visibility was amazing, maybe 15metres or more. We had swam all the way to the end of the pier & were on our way back & I still had not found a seahorse, would the giant rays be enough, a new diver might expect this is the norm and still be expecting to see the seahorse! We are now in less than a metre of water on our way out & still no seahorse – but wait, out of the corner of my eye I see a midget seahorse under a piece of seaweed on a pylon.  The day is saved & so is my reputation for finding seahorses!!
