Over easter Amber I headed up to dive the Gold Coast area with a friend of mine Ian Banks who owns a shop in Southport. Over the next 4 days we dived the area around the Gold Coast seaway which is located at the end of the road where see world is located. Unfortunately for us the visibility over the 4 days was very ordinary, the best we managed was about 8m. This was not a problem a we had camera's and we could shoot macro. I came away from the Gold Coast having found another area that is fantastic and certainly one to head back to. The marine life was outstanding, many schools of fish, warm water and cold water speices and some really good individuals speices often not seen. I have now learned the time of year to go is winter as the seas are calmer and the vis ranges from 20 to 40m. Obviously this comes with no guarantee though as it is nature. If you are looking at diving up around the gold coast please don't hesitate to contact me and I can pass on my friends details. The diving is fantastic and all shore based so very cheap as well. |
