As unpredictable & ever changing as Melbourne's weather is, there some web sites available today that can help the diver determine if the days conditions are going to be suitable for diving. Here are just a few of the more commonly used web sites that can help you with your dive plans. As a general 'rule of thumb' dive boats will not transit Port Phillip Heads if the weather conditions are predicted as more than 2 metre waves, if the wind is stronger than 20 knots from the South or West or if the wind is predicted as more than 25 knots from the North. Ideal conditions for diving outside the Heads are light North to East winds. |
